These Puff Pastry Apple Roses are as gorgeous as they are delicious β tender cinnamon apples wrapped in flaky golden pastry, baked into beautiful little blooms. Perfect for brunch, dessert, or a cozy afternoon treat!
Prep the Apples: Cut your apples in half, remove the core, and slice them very thin β about 2 mm. Pop them into a microwave-safe bowl with a splash of water and the lemon juice to keep them from browning. Microwave for 2 minutes until soft and pliable, then drain and let cool slightly.
Prep the Puff Pastry: Dust your surface with a little flour and roll out the puff pastry. Cut it into 5 cm-wide strips. Brush each strip with the beaten egg for that golden, glossy finish.
Cinnamon Sugar Magic: Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle it over your pastry strips. Your kitchen will smell incredible already!
Layer the Apples: Arrange the apple slices along the top edge of each strip, letting the red skin peek out β this is what makes your βrose petals.β
Fold and Roll: Fold the bottom of the pastry strip up over the apple bases. Brush again with egg wash and add more cinnamon sugar if you like. Then gently roll each strip from one end to the other. Imperfections are totally fine β theyβll puff beautifully in the oven.
Bake: Place each rolled rose in a greased or lined muffin tin, or on a parchment-lined baking tray. Bake at 190Β°C (375Β°F) for 35β40 minutes, until puffed and golden. If the apples brown too fast, cover loosely with foil.
Cool & Enjoy: Let them cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar. Serve warm and enjoy the soft apples, crisp pastry, and sweet cinnamon aroma!
